Description
This picture was taken in the islands of Vava’u, Tonga. I was on a whale watching/swimming daytrip and we had been spending hours and hours looking for whales without success. I was feeling very disappointed as we were heading back to the harbour. But suddenly, when less expected, we saw whales splashing in the distance. We got closer and realised it was 2 adults humpbacks whales possibly in the process of courting. We got in the water and it was the most amazing experience and a very beautiful moment. The whales were rolling, interacting with each other and touching each other softly. Most of the courting behaviour was happening a few meters below us so not ideal for taking pictures but I got this shot as they were both coming back up for air.
